Formerly affiliated to S.N.D.T. Women’s University, Mumbai, S.P.T.M. College of Arts & Science has been affiliated to Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat since the academic year 2015–2016. The college is recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(b) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
From the academic year 2023–24, the college introduced a 4-year Honors Degree in B.Sc. Home Science as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The program offers multiple exit options: a Certificate after the first year, a Diploma after the second year, a B.Sc. Degree after the third year, and a B.Sc. Honors Degree upon successful completion of the fourth year. The curriculum is designed to be highly skill-based, focusing on both academic excellence and practical application.

From the academic year 2026 onwards, the program has been upgraded and is now offered as a Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics under the framework of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), aligning with the vision of “One Nation, One Syllabus.” This transition ensures a standardized, industry-relevant curriculum that enhances professional recognition, employability, and opportunities in the healthcare and nutrition sectors at a national level.
The department is supported by qualified, experienced, and competent faculty members who are dedicated to student development. Practical learning is emphasized through well-equipped, modern laboratories. In addition, the college regularly organizes seminars, workshops, guest lectures, training sessions, internships, and project-based learning to provide students with real-world exposure and hands-on experience.
