I attended SPTMC from 1986 to 1989 and received my BSc Composite Home Science, with fourth position in the University. While the college was significantly different when I graduated – there weren’t many specialisations, the staff was different, etc. – the heart of SPTMC has remained the same. The college has always upheld the motto of SNDT,- An enlightened woman is a source of infinite power. My time at the college empowered me to pursue my passions while allowing me access to some of the best resources that existed at the time. I completed my education without the internet or social media, the library, staff and community were a wonderful source of information and guidance throughout my three years of college. The teachers made time for every student and ensured that our personal goals were met.
I returned to SPTMC as a lecturer after completion of my M.Sc from M.S University,Baroda.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Teaching and studying at the same college empowered me with the skills that have helped me ascend through the real world today. Further, I also completed my M.S in Counselling and Psychotherapy in 2008.
Took up a job of a Counsellor and a Psychology teacher at Delhi Private School Dubai since 2009. I am currently the Head of Counselling at Delhi Private School Dubai,. And it was at SPTMC that I truly learned the value of good communication and good leadership. My classes – in Gujarati and in English – taught me far more than just the textbook material. I learnt how to move forward as a productive member of society and I use those skills every day, as a teacher, a mentor, and a Counsellor.

D. Shilpa Gopalkrishna

I, D. Shilpa Gopalkrishna,  am proud to have been a part of the institute Seth P. T. Mahila college of arts and Home science.  This college has been a great contributor towards the development of my personality.

This college has put a girl with no professional ambitions to a woman with double post graduation. I am proud to announce that I have done post graduation in nutrition and dietetics followed by MBA, so that I could be absorbed by corporate sector,  where people work night shifts or 24/7 shifts to meet the client requirement.
I could contribute towards the health maintenance of human resource,  who is the ultimate money generator, by preparing diet charts suitable to their work role,  work shift,  life style etc,  which has reduced absenteeism due to illness.
I had worked with corporate for good six years and I am now,  a happy home maker “BY CHOICE”. This is what I would call “WOMEN EMPOWERMENT”.
Nobody had forced me to do anything or become ambitious. It happened involuntarily, when madam Rommana Captain inspired me to join this college during student counselling.
The staff empathises with every student.  Every student is given equal importance  and encouraged to excel in their field of interest,  irrespective of their academic performance. This helps them to do exceptionally well in whatever They do.
This college is a complete package and the place for you,  if you want to find the best version of yourself.

“Never say that ‘I am not going to do that’ because most of the parts of life doesn’t go as you have planned. Why am I saying that? Because I have been there. During my third year many people asked me what am I planning to do further and I used to simply say that ‘I am not going to do master’s’ but as said earlier it doesn’t works that way, right now I am studying at one of the most prominent college of South India and pursuing my master’s degree in psychology.
I went for a casual interview with no intention of getting an admission but apparently I was so good at that interview that I got admission. Definitely credits for this goes to SPTMC and my professors for imparting such knowledge to us and believing in me.
So, basically we all have some plans for our lives but if they doesn’t workout that way so don’t be disappointed because destiny has much better for you which you are going to love just like me.
This college has given me lots of fun memories and lessons which will stay with me forever and might help me in future with hardships.”

I am really happy and blessed at the same time because I have been a part of SPTMC college of arts and home science. Home science is more like a taboo in our society where people are not ready to accept that someone can actually study about child psychology, foods, communication and what not. They don’t consider this knowledge as study and I used to believe the same before I jumped into this college. But now I feel proud as HD professional.
In my under graduation I found Dr. Rupam Bhatt, Smrti Juneja , Dr. Sashi Saini and Hiral Trivedi as my professor, all of them are the best in they own field they are enthusiastic and strong always ready for something new. They give all support and guidance us to achieve something in life. They are not just my mentor but also my second mothers.

Sheth P.T. Mahila College of Arts & Science Unit offers a blend of learning, amusement and integration of enduring principles. As a Psychology student it provides a wide arena of the field and thus I get to learn something new with every subject. The entire study environment makes it easy for a student to learn and inculcate the spirit to stand out amongst the talented and hard-working students. What amazes me is the plethora of extra-curricular activities that the college offers hence compelling every student to explore and pursue her extra talents. The college manages both the areas extremely well and a student always finds herself in a pool of never ending opportunities, be it technical or non-technical. Another feather in the cap is the professors that impart quality education to the students. Never can a student find herself lost in a concept and professors not being able to rescue her!  College library serves as the ultimate answer to all our queries in terms of no. of books, papers, periodicals and helping staff. The infrastructure of the college speaks for itself.

“There is a time and place for you to become the perfect Version of yourself and that place is called college”

This college is where I entered as an ordinary student Surbhi Kabra but the journey was like a roller coaster ride for me with so many ups and downs along with unimaginable experiences and everlasting memories. However, when I left the college I wasn’t an ordinary student but Wings of professionalism were added and I felt proud to be referred as a Dietician Surbhi Kabra. This journey from a Student to a professional wouldn’t have been possible without the immense support of my college and teachers who were a constant source of motivation for me.

SPTMC gave me a wonderful platform to upgrade myself day by day. The college did not limit us to academics only, we had theoretical and practical knowledge with lots of seminars, workshops and with those recreational trips to places like Goa, Imagica were a bundle of joy to the journey. It showed me a goal in life, teachers guided me through the way to reach the goal and now I stand with all round personality to lead an independent life.

Wherever I am today, is because of the wonderful college, supportive teachers and super-awesome friends. Indeed it was my second home and I am glad that I was and shall always be a part of SPTMC.

You get terrified by the thought that you are going to enter college with 200 totally unknown people. It seems a whole new world. At first it’s difficult to keep up. When I entered S.P.T.M. College, I felt something familiar. Like the things I experienced in school.  The easy mingling of girls, that care of professors when you don’t submit your assignment and the food you share in canteen. But there is novelty too in college.

The Guest lectures, exchanging cultural values with people from foreign countries in Global Village by AIESEC, the inter-college sports tournaments, engaging seminars and what not

It gives me great pleasure to say with pride that I am doing graduation from SPTM College.  The relationship between faculties and student is very cordial, which gives me an opportunity to excel in my area of interest. The time I spend here is splendid and has helped me to grow better. I thank all the faculties and staff for making me a “Better Person”.

My journey at Sheth P. T. Mahila College turned out to be a blessed surprise. I appeared my 12th grade with Science stream and was qualified to join medicine field but I always wanted to explore the unexplored and my zest to acquire knowledge of such subject made me to pursue Psychology. My friend, who was pursuing English Literature and living in my neighbourhood initiated for my admission for the program of B.A. Psychology in the year 2013 when SPTMC was affiliated with S.N.D.T. Women`s University, Mumbai.

In the three years of my graduation, Rojo Sir was a faculty under whose guidance I learnt a lot. Psychology itself was an interesting subject but because of him only, the foundation and my academic knowledge is still so concrete and strong. With the emphasis on text based knowledge he initiated to celebrate “PsychFest” the Psychology Department activity to make awareness about the practical aspects of this field.

Apart from academics, SPTMC encouraged students to participate in S.N.D.T. – Yuva Mahotsav, which was an Art and Literature festival of the University. I am so glad that I participated twice in it and performed my best and secured the First Position and made college proud twice. I got an opportunity to represent our college at Tejaswini Contest – a hunt for Miss University.

The milestone of my graduation year is my Academic Visit at Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gandhinagar. During the visit I made up my mind to pursue Post Graduation from Asia’s First Forensic University and I started preparing for it and very soon I will be completing my M.Sc. Forensic Psychology, GFSU.

The three years of B.A. Psychology played a significant part in what I am today. I am grateful to our I/c Principal Dr. Khushman Ma’am for giving me ample opportunities to enhance my skills. I heartily thank our Vice Principal of The Faculty of Arts Dr. Smita Ma’am for her guidance and support. I am so fortunate to be alumni of SPTMC.

Herewith at the end, I would share my belief that if you are determined to make your distinct journey, keep walking towards it and one day you will reach your dream destination.

But after a few weeks into the course I know that the next two years would be the best years of my life. The time spent in this wonderful institute will be truly cherished and the knowledge gained here will always be utilised and remembered.

The professors here have not only helped me understand psychology as a subject but have also engrained psychology in my being. I will forever be grateful to have come to this college and study psychology here.
