The event “Food as Medicine” was organized at Sheth P. T. Mahila College of Arts & Home Science (SPTMC) with the purpose of educating students about the importance of natural, raw foods in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The session was conducted by a mother-daughter duo, Mrs. Sandhiya Desai and Ms. Vidhi Desai. Mrs. Sandhiya Desai shared her personal journey of transformation. She had been struggling with obesity and several health issues until she began consuming raw food nearly 13 years ago. By following these principles, she successfully improved her health and fitness.
The speakers highlighted the negative health consequences of excessive consumption of ultra-processed foods, such as refined flour, fried items, carbonated drinks, and refined oils. At the same time, they encouraged the students to embrace natural foods as provided by nature and to focus on a balanced diet.
The interactive session engaged the students effectively, leaving them motivated to adopt healthier dietary habits. Overall, the event successfully raised awareness about the role of food in preventing lifestyle diseases and maintaining long-term health and well-being.
