Rashtriya Poshan Maah in collaboration with IAPEN India 2025 by FSN Department

The Department of Food Science & Nutrition, in collaboration with IAPEN India Surat Chapter, celebrated Rashtriya Poshan Maah with great enthusiasm and active student participation. The event began with an introduction highlighting the reason for celebrating Nutrition Month and the importance of spreading awareness about healthy eating practices.

The judges were Dr. Shilpee Agarwal (Secretary, IAPEN Surat Chapter) and Ms. Shefali, an alumna from the first batch of the college who has also served the institution for years. Both guests were warmly welcomed, following which they commenced with the evaluation of the recipe competition. Mrs. Minakshi Tripathi and Ms. Meena Raja were the judges for the fuel for the future competition.

Two competitions were organized as part of the celebration:

  1. Eat Right Cook-Off (Recipe Competition):
    • A total of 31 entries were presented by students.
    • The dishes showcased innovation, nutrition, and creativity while aligning with the theme “Eat Right for a Better Living.”
  2. Fuel for Future Contest (Awareness Competition):
    • A total of 28 entries were received.
    • Students expressed their creativity through posters, videos, and even a poem to create awareness on themes such as obesity, early childhood care, infant feeding practices, and men-streaming.

Post evaluation, the judges were felicitated as a token of gratitude. Principal Dr. Smita Bhatt addressed the gathering, appreciating the efforts of the students and the collaboration with IAPEN. The judges then shared the basis of evaluation and motivated students with their insightful words.

  • Dr. Shilpee Agarwal also highlighted the benefits of IAPEN membership and encouraged students to actively engage with professional platforms.
  • Ms. Shefali inspired the participants with her words of wisdom, connecting her experience as both a student and faculty of the college.

🏆 Recipe Competition:

  1. 1st Prize: Yashasvi Jajoo (S.Y. B.Sc) – Beetroot Raw Banana Tikki & Buckwheat Brownie
  2. 2nd Prize: Shaikh Namira (F.Y. B.Sc) – Nutritious Tikki
  3. 3rd Prize: Aqsa Beej (F.Y. B.Sc) – Zoodles from Zucchini

🏆 Fuel for Future Contest:

  1. 1st Prize: Drashti Dameliya (T.Y. B.Sc)
  2. 2nd Prize: Sakina Nakhuda (F.Y. B.Sc)
  3. 3rd Prize: Sholka Koshiya (F.Y. B.Sc)

Consolation Prize: Riya Patel – for her impactful Video entry

The program concluded on a cheerful note, marking the event as a grand success. The celebration not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talents but also reinforced the importance of nutrition awareness and healthy practices in everyday life.
